The East Nashville building formerly home to bar and live music venue The Crying Wolf is set to house a dog grooming business.
Scenthound will occupy a portion of the building at 823 Woodland St., according to a Metro permit. The Florida-based business already has locations in Mt. Juliet and in Franklin locally.
Marketed as a “wellness-focused” dog care concept, Scenthound operates 123 locations in 24 states. The company saw a 78 percent increase in system-wide revenue in 2024 with the addition 63 franchise agreements 46 locations opened, according to a press release.
The Crying Wolf closed in 2022 after a 10-year run, with the manager opting not to renew the lease at the time. The space has seemingly sat vacant since.
The building was sold in September for $2.85 million. The buyers were 800 Main Development Partners LLC, which is led by Adam Leibowitz and Andy Neuman, co-founders of Double A Development. At the time, Leibowitz said he would renovate the space to include multiple tenants, utilizing both upper and lower spaces.
Also on Woodland Street, Ernie’s dive bar opened in the basement of Up-Down in August. There is also a hotel slated for 418 Woodland St.
