HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii Island animal rescue center is hosting a free pet adoption event featuring dozens of dogs and cats.
Aloha Ilio Rescue is hosting Cause for Paws: The Ulti-Mutt Adoption Event on March 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

Organizers said that well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to attend the event as well, but ask that all dogs be non-aggressive and under owner supervision at all times.
Aloha Ilio Rescue said that in 2024 they helped with over 600 adoptions, provided more than 700 spay and neuter surgeries, donated over 3,000 pounds of pet food to local families and assisted with more than 50 major medical cases.
