FLINT, MI – Pet owners in Genesee County can get their animals vaccinated and microchipped for free this weekend.
Free rabies and Distemper vaccines, along with microchips, will be available for dogs and cats, while supplies last, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Franklin Avenue Mission, 2210 N. Franklin Ave. in Flint.
There will also be vaccinations and tests available for a fee. Canine Bordetella and Feline Leukemia vaccines are $10, heartworm tests are $20, Canine Lyme and flu vaccines are $20. Heartworm, flea, tick, ear mite and dewormer prevention is also available, starting at $8.
All dogs must be secured on a leash while cats should be in carries during the event. Pets must be at least eight weeks of age.
Prior rabies records are required for pets to receive a 3-year rabies vaccine. Canine distemper vaccines include adenovirus Type 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus with or without leptospirosis by request. Feline distemper vaccines include rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia and chlamydia.
The event is hosted by All About Animals. Other sponsors include Pets in Peril, Franklin Avenue Mission and HOPE, Helping Orphaned Pets through Education.
