FUR Animal Rescue hosts ‘Comedy to the Rescue’ to benefit homeless pets

Nationally touring comedian Clay Foley will amuse the crowd on Saturday at FUR Animal Rescue’s fundraising event.

“Comedy to the Rescue” is an adults-only show that will include stand-up comedy, snacks and a cash bar.

Venue 304 at 304 E. Fifth St. will set the stage for the evening. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 each and available online on FUR’s Facebook page. The link for purchase may also be received by texting 308-520-5528. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door.

According to Foley’s website, clayfoley.com, the comedian spent 10 years working as an animal cruelty investigator. Beginning in his home state of Illinois, the 18-city tour will take Foley across the country to raise money to benefit a variety of animal charities.

For the past 12 years, FUR Animal Rescue has partnered with other organizations to raise funds. According to Jenn Porter-Milne, executive director of the rescue, this marks the first time the nonprofit will be the sole host of a fundraising event.

“Every penny raised will go back into the rescue, the animals we help and our community program,” Porter-Milne said.  “We have no paid staff members and rely on donations and fundraisers to run our facility, pay bills and continue our mission,” she said.

As noted on the rescue’s website, they are a state licensed 501c3 non profit animal rescue dedicated to finding homes or rescue for animals at the North Platte Animal Shelter through evaluating the dogs and cats and helping to link up potential adopters with pets in need.

Porter-Milne invites the community to come out and enjoy an evening of entertainment, refreshments and laughs all while supporting animals in need.
