The proposal, on land north west of Pavilion Farm, is to erect a Rylock fence around the Ellwyn Glen Field.
It will include a gate to drive in and will be used for dog walking and offer a secure, fenced and gated area for owners to walk their pets.
The application is from Jennie Duncanson, of Newtown St Boswells-based Jennie’s K9 Crew dog walking business.
The site has previously been used by Mike’s Military Mayhem, a children’s party activity venue.
On the site, there will be a bin for dog waste that will be emptied at least three times per week.
In a report approving the application, Julie Hayward, SBC’s lead planning officer, states: “The site would be used as a safe and secure dog walking area and the applicant advises that the fence has to be 1.8m high around the whole site.
“The Rylock stock proof fencing would have timber fence posts with galvanised wire and so the fencing would be light weight and transparent. It is of a style often seen in rural locations. The timber entrance gates would be similar to the existing.
“The site sits lower than the public road and the mature trees provide a significant level of screening.
“The proposal would not harm the visual amenities of the area.”
