Ghaziabad: Many of us desire to return home to a furry friend after a busy day. However, the reality of owning a pet dog, especially in busy urban areas, is filled with challenges due to the many regulations that must be kept in consciousness. Similarly, in Ghaziabad, pet owners are required to register their canine companions. Proof of vaccination may be included with this registration form. The initial registration fee is Rs 1,000, followed by a renewal fee of another Rs 500 to be paid annually.
In Ghaziabad as per a proposal presented during the council meeting on September 21, in 2019, the following terms and conditions were outlined with reference to the licensing requirements for dog owners within the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation of Ghaziabad.

- Pet owners must inform the Municipal Commissioner or municipal corporation of pet ownership within 15 days of getting the pet.
- Owners of the pet should not leave their pet unattended in public places such as parks, streets, or roads.
- Owners should prevent their dogs from defecating openly in public spaces.
- Owners should hold a full responsibility to ensure that their pet is not disturb neighbors or causing any discomfort or inconvenience to others.
- Running a dog breeding centre for commercial purposes in any residential area shall be termed illegal to prevent disturbances to others.
- In the event of the owner’s death, sale, or transfer of the pet, this information must be reported to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation within 15 days in writing.
Fees to acquire a dog license: Dog owners are required to pay an annual license fee of Rs 1000, due in April of each year.
Renewal of License
- Dog licenses are valid for a period of just one year, expiring on March 31st annually (period: April 1st to March 31st).
- Renewal of license depends upon a satisfactory report from the Municipal Commissioner or license authority, along with proof of vaccination records from any registered veterinarian only.
- Dog owner’s license renewal applications must be given between April 1 and April 30 every year.
- It should be noted that applications received between May 1 and May 31 incur a fine of Rs 500, in addition to the fixed license fee.
- Meanwhile, applications submitted on or after June 1 will be subject to a daily fine of Rs 50.
