LAS VEGAS (AP) — A dog that went missing in 2015 in Las Vegas has been found. The owners of the now 11-year-old Gizmo the Chihuahua call it a miracle that they’re reunited with their pet. The reunion comes nine years after he escaped past a faulty gate in their backyard. Judith Monarrez says she got an email notification July 17 after Gizmo was dropped off at an animal hospital and his microchip was scanned. Monarrez says she wept when she read the email and drove straight to the animal hospital. Their long-awaited reunion comes as a new Las Vegas city ordinance is set to take effect on Aug. 1 requiring microchips for pet cats and dogs.
