The Greater Noida Authority now requires all pet owners to register their pets and use the service lift only if no one objects. If they don’t comply, they will face a fine of Rs 2000. New rules also include sterilization campaigns, shelters for sick and stray pets, a toll-free number for emergencies, and designated areas for feeding stray animals

A new guideline introduced by the Greater Noida Authority mandates that all pet owners in the area must register their pets. This update revises the existing pet policy and was approved in a board meeting held in June. Pet owners will need to comply with this new registration requirement.

The policy also instructs residents that if they are with their pets, they should use the service elevators. They can use the regular elevator only if others using it do not have any objection. If there are any objections, pet owners should allow residents to use the lift first and wait for their turn.

If a pet bites or injures someone, then the entire cost of treatment will be borne by the animal owner. According to the guidelines, a sterilization and vaccination campaign is being run for dogs and cats.

Additionally, shelters for sick and stray animals will be set up in public-private partnership mode. The authority will provide a toll-free number for emergency information related to pets. Pet registration will be mandatory.

A designated area will be set up for those who wish to feed stray animals, to ensure cleanliness and maintain hygiene. The authority has consistently issued instructions regarding mandatory pet registration, which is completely free of charge.

If pet owners fail to comply, the authority will impose a fine of Rs 2,000 as a penalty. Under all circumstances, the instructions given by the authority should be followed.
