Meet Grace, our Pet of the Week at SOS Animal Shelter. Grace is considered one of our urgent pets, and we are hoping to find her a forever home soon.
Grace is a gorgeous, 8-year-old, longhaired Torti. Her family had to move and, unfortunately, Grace couldn’t go. She was surrendered to us in hope of finding her a new home. It was obvious that Grace was well loved, and she was happy. Grace has a stunning long coat and was very social upon intake.
Our most difficult intakes at SOS are adult cats or dogs who have to transition from a home life to shelter life. It takes an emotional toll on them, because everything they once knew is gone. The smells of home and the humans who loved them are gone; they are left alone in a place with different smells and all the faces they see are strangers. They can no longer relax, and they become on guard, not sure what is going to happen. Cats hate change, and it can easily cause them to shut down emotionally and physically. Grace has been placed in our kitten room where she can adjust. She goes in the little cat house and spends her day hiding. We slip her favorite treats in the cat house in hope that one day she will feel comfortable enough to emerge. We know that once Grace is able to get into a home where she can settle, she will be an amazing companion. She just needs a chance, and a hero. She doesn’t seem to mind the other cats in the room, so we think a kitty friend would be nice. Grace just needs you to come be her hero. If you are looking for a beautiful kitty, stop in and speak with our staff about Grace.
SOS really appreciates donations. These are some of the things we always need. Purina Cat Naturals dry food (olive green bag), Kitten Chow dry food, Bleach (any brand), Pine Pellets Horse bedding (used for cat litter), Purina One dog food, laundry detergent (any brand). Please check out our wishlists on Amazon and Chewy for other needed items. We also welcome volunteers at the shelter, and at our monthly dog washes through the summer.
