The new dog park in Rifle is opening on Saturday morning.
The new dog park is located at Deerfield Park, 300 East 30th St.
Mountain Paw Pet Supply and Barkery will have signature treats and toys available for furry companions.
Talks about a dog park had been ongoing for a few years before Rifle City Council approved funding for it in early October.
The dog park stretches over 1.5 acres in Deerfield Park and will have three sections: large dogs, small and medium dogs and finally a solo dog area.
The park cost $136,203 and was covered by the city’s conservation trust fund. The bid was awarded to Tally Ho Construction, a general contractor in Rifle, as they offered the fastest build time.
The park could help reduce calls about dogs running off-leash and dog fights, as now there will be a place for dogs to be off-leash without having to worry.
The new park opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and all are encouraged to bring their dogs.
