MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — Pamela Terhune, the founder and president of Grateful Rescue, has dedicated much of her life to caring for animals in need, including those with disabilities and special circumstances. Among the countless animals she has saved, one dog captured her heart and the hearts of thousands when after becoming a media sensation.
Saul, an elderly and handicapped dog, was taken in by Terhune at a time when he had nowhere else to go. He quickly garnered a loyal following.
On Monday morning, Pamela received news that Saul had passed away.
Patty Spitler, former WISH-TV anchor and host of Pet Pals TV, joined News 8’s Midday newscast to help Terhune highlight the significance of adopting dogs from shelters, specifically dogs who may be older and may have mobility or sight relates issues.
While the grief from Saul’s passing is still fresh, Terhune continues to focus on the greater mission, which she said was to give hope to animals in need and provide them with a second chance at life.
For those interested in helping or adopting, Pamela urges them to consider adopting a pet like Diesel, who is still looking for a loving home.
