The already-busy centre's workload virtually doubled overnight, but in the words of Greenacres: “It’s been a rollercoaster — emotional, exhausting, and absolutely worth it.”
These dogs will be advertised for re-homing when the time is right, but the focus this Easter is finding loving new homes for some of the many more animals in Greenacres' care.
Here's a fab five for Easter who are looking for new owners.
If you are interested in adopting any of these animals, please apply via the website greenacresrescue.org.uk – viewing is by appointment only.

Marley is a lovable 11-month-old medium/large crossbreed who’s looking for his forever home.

He has a playful and curious nature, and he’s ready to start a new chapter in a home where he’ll be cherished and cared for.
He gets on wonderfully with other dogs, and is a healthy, happy boy, with his old-fashioned mixed breed characteristics giving him a unique charm.
‘Affectionate' TootsieTootsie has ‘ a lovely kind nature'. (Image: Greenacres Rescue)
Tootsie is gorgeous three-year-old black domestic shorthair with a sleek, shiny coat and a lovely, kind nature. She’s an affectionate and friendly girl who loves being around people, making her the perfect companion for a family or a single adopter looking for a loyal feline friend.
Her lovely temperament and beautiful coat make Tootsie a real delight to have around. If you’re looking for a sweet, friendly cat to share your home with, Tootsie could be the one for you.

Moose is an 18-month-old lurcher with a heart full of love and a sweet disposition, despite the difficult start he’s had in life.
Abandoned by his previous owner and left as an unclaimed stray, Moose is now looking for a forever home where he can truly belong. This intelligent and affectionate lad has already mastered basic commands and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His friendly nature ensures he quickly becomes a favourite with everyone he meets.
Moose would thrive in a structured home without cats and would be a loving, loyal companion.
Moose is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and will come with a Burns Pet Nutrition adoption pack plus five weeks' free Agria pet insurance.
‘Clever' Brian
Brian needs an active home. (Image: Greenacres Rescue)
Brian is a stunning three-year-old collie who was originally found as a stray, and now he’s ready to find a home that truly understands his needs. Like most collies, he is incredibly intelligent and thrives on both mental and physical stimulation.
He needs an active home where his sharp mind will be put to good use. Whether it’s obedience training, agility, or other dog activities, Brian will excel in an environment that keeps him engaged and learning.
This clever lad is best suited to a home with collie experience or a keen interest in training, as he’ll need structure and purpose to truly flourish. He loves his walks and exercise but will be happiest with an owner who enjoys working with their dog and offering plenty of enrichment.
If you’re looking for an energetic, intelligent companion and have the time and experience to keep up with him, Brian could be the one!
‘Sweet' SootySooty proves that ‘age is just a number'. (Image: Greenacres Rescue)
Sooty is a wonderful 14-year-old black domestic shorthair who still has so much love to give. Despite her age, she’s in fantastic shape and is full of life, proving that age really is just a number!
She’s a sweet and affectionate girl who deserves a warm, cosy home where she can enjoy her golden years with plenty of love and comfort. Sadly, older cats are often overlooked, but Sooty is hoping that someone special will see past her age and give her the home she truly deserves.
This lovely lady would make a perfect companion for someone looking for a gentle, low-maintenance cat who enjoys a fuss and a cosy spot to snooze. SIf you can offer Sooty the loving retirement she deserves, she will repay you with endless affection.
Could you be the one to give her a second chance?
