Our Wet Nose Wednesday featured pet from Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter this week is a charmer named Puffskein. Weird name, right? It comes from a somewhat obscure Harry Potter reference. According to the Harry Potter Wiki,
Puffskeins were small magical beasts covered in soft fur and spherical in shape with a long tongue. It was a popular wizarding pet found worldwide that did not object to being cuddled or thrown about.[2]
This description aptly fits our featured dog (except the “thrown about” part), who is 100% adorable and loves cuddles.
He’s just a little guy.
Puffskein is a seven-year-old Pomeranian mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray over a week ago. He’s a tiny little guy, tipping the scale at around 5 pounds. His coat was heavily matted when he arrived, so Puffskein received a stylish trim. Undoubtedly, he feels better and appreciates being a little cooler in the heatwave we’re experiencing.
Love small dogs? Adopt Puffskein.
At my house, we’re equal opportunity when it comes to large-breed vs. small-breed dogs. Until recently, we’ve always had a chocolate Lab alongside some type of smaller dog. Most of the shelter dogs we meet on Wet Nose Wednesday are larger breeds, so it’s always exciting when a little dog comes up for adoption.
Little dogs are usually adopted quickly.
Small-breed dogs typically don’t last long at the shelter, so if you’d like to adopt Puffskein, we’d recommend getting in line at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter when they open at noon on Thursday.
Be part of the world-record attempt in Billings.
On August 2nd, Yellowstone Vally Animal Shelter hopes to break the world record for most dogs watching a movie simultaneously. To do so, they’ll need at least 300 friendly dogs to attend Movie in The Bark.
A fun movie night with dogs.
The event will take place at Wilson Park, the future site of YVAS’s new facility. Currently, you can vote for which movie will be shown on the big screen on their Facebook poll seen above. It’s free.
