The first images that come to mind when thinking of Mumbai’s local trains—a lifeline to the city’s commuters—are usually of overcrowded compartments, occasional accidents, or more recently, people filming dance reels. However, beyond the chaos, these trains often serve as spaces where passengers form connections, share stories, and sometimes experience surprises. One such heart-warming surprise occurred when a golden retriever named Minnie joined the daily commute, melting the hearts of those aboard.
In a now-viral Instagram clip shared by Srijani Das, Minnie the pup was spotted riding in her owner’s backpack, worn to the front. The adorable scene caught the attention of passengers. A child, amused by the cute dog, gently petted her.
Das captioned the post, “Mumbai, where locals are friendly… and so are their dogs! Meet Minnie, the golden retriever who stole hearts (and pats) on our train ride,” and it has already garnered over 6,85,000 views.

However, while many people adored the heart-warming clip, some expressed concern, noting that keeping a dog seated in a bag for an extended time might cause discomfort for the animal.
One user commented, “Good but the dog the way the dog is sitting in the bag in same position for long time. It will be painful for the dog.” Another user wrote, “Everything is fine but the way the puppy is continuously in this uncomfortable position for such a long time is unacceptable.” A third user commented, “Minnie is the MAXX goodest baby.”
