SUMMERVILLE — Three dogs and a cat were killed in a Jan. 12 home fire that decimated the structure.
A single-family home on Cheyenne Road was not salvageable after it caught fire at midday, according to Dorchester County spokesperson Erin Pomrenke. The family was not home at the time when the blaze began, but it was not possible to rescue their four pets, Pomrenke said.
The Red Cross is assisting the family, who has not been identified. The Dorchester County Fire Rescue department is investigating the blaze. For now, the cause is unknown.
