PEORIA (25News Now) – Four members of a Peoria family, five cats, and a dog are displaced after a house fire in the West Bluff that started in the kitchen.
One of the residents suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, according to the Peoria Fire Department.
The fire was reported about 3 a.m. in the 800 block of West Meadows Place, between North Sheridan Road and North Broadway Street.
Firefighters rescued some of the cats, but all of the animals are fine, said Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall.
Investigators determined the fire’s cause was accidental. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
The Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
