Firefighters said add-ons to the house made it difficult to put out because it was challenging to navigate through multiple areas.
HOUSTON — Crews worked early Thursday morning to put out a house fire in north Houston. No one was reported hurt, but there was extensive damage to the home and three pets died.
Firefighters said add-ons to the house made it difficult to put out because it was challenging to navigate through multiple areas. They also said heavy fire in the attic made it even harder to put the fire out.
The family living in the home told KHOU 11's Katiera Winfrey that the husband woke up to smoke and fire and alerted everyone. It's unclear how many people were inside, but everyone reportedly got out safe.
The wife said she saw smoke and fire coming out of a window and was afraid the house might explode, so she grabbed her son and rushed out.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire but said a grill had been left on overnight.
Everyone living in the house made it out safe but officials said three dogs did die in the fire.
