The Hornets star has helped provide over 250,000 meals for pets through the Humane Society of the United States!
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — LaMelo Ball picked a great year to score the most points per game he has in his NBA career.
At the beginning of the season, the Hornets star point guard became a More Than a Pet ambassador for the Humane Society of the United States.
He paired up with the organization to launch Points for Pets.
For every point Ball scores this regular season, 250 meals are donated by the Humane Society to pets in historically marginalized communities around the country through its programs that increase access to care.
Ball, who owns five dogs, has scored 873 points, which equates to 218,250 meals.

“We see how much people will do to take care of their pets and how people will forgo their own meals and other essential services that they need to make sure their pets are happy and health,” said the Humane Society's VP of Access to Care Amanda Arrington. “So to be able to provide meals through this program is such a relief to so many people.”
Ball is fourth in the NBA with a career-high 28.2 points per game.
“To have someone who really brings in an audience that maybe aren't traditionally a part of the Humane Society to make that connection about what pets mean to them,” Arrington said. “To understand there are a lot of people who need some support and assistance.”
Ball, who was not among the original selections for All-Star Game reserves, sprained his ankle on Monday against the Lakers and will be reevaluated in one week.
Hopefully he's out there soon, filling the bucket, and the food bowls.
