COVINGTON — Northshore Humane Society is urgently seeking temporary foster homes for shelter dogs ahead of a major winter storm expected to hit the area Tuesday night.
With frigid temperatures forecasted to last through the week, the shelter is asking for help to keep these animals safe and warm.
“Our facility is old and lacks the insulation needed to keep our dog runs warm during freezing temperatures,” said Scott Bernier, CEO of Northshore Humane Society. “This storm is expected to be one of the coldest we’ve seen in a while, and our priority is to get the dogs into temporary homes where they’ll be safe and comfortable.”
The shelter’s cats are housed in more insulated areas, but they too are available for fostering.
If you’re able to help, please visit the shelter at 20384 Harrison Ave. in Covington during the following hours:
today, Jan. 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All supplies, including food and kennels, will be provided at no cost to foster families. The shelter staff will be on hand to assist you in finding the perfect dog to welcome into your home.
“We’re counting on our community to help us ensure these animals stay warm and cared for,” Bernier said. “Thank you in advance for your support!”
