Hundreds gather for annual Howl’ween pet costume contest in Burlington


MISS IT, THE PUMPKINS WILL BE ON DISPLAY TOMORROW IN ROTARY PARK AS WELL. A HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST FOR MAN'S BEST FRIEND BROUGHT FANGS AND FUN TO THE STREETS OF BURLINGTON THIS AFTERNOON. CHURCH STREET WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE… áAND THEIR PETS. FOR BURLINGTON'S ANNUAL HOWL'WEEN COSTUME CONTEST. THERE WERE SEVERAL CATEGORIES. INCLUDING SILLIEST COSTUMER, MOST ORIGINAL, BEST PUP AND OWNER… AND BEST IN SHOW! WE SAW IT ALL. FROM SPACE- DOGS…TO ááHOT DOGS. ONE OWNER SAYS THIS IS HER SECOND YEAR ENTERING THE CONTEST. AND SHE'S REALLY PROUD OF HER AND HER PUG'S COSTUMES THIS TIME AROUND. <“I GOT THIS ONE TWO THREE YEARS AGO, AND THEN WE SAW THIS ONE AND WENT OH THIS IS PERFECT!”> <“WE'RE HERE FOR FUN BUT IF WE WIN THAT'D BE COOL TOO.”> ááTHREE WINNERS WERE CHOSEN FOR EACH CATEGORY THIS AFTERNOON

Beloved tradition brings fun and fangs to the Church Street Marketplace Saturday.

A Halloween costume contest for man's best friend brought fangs and fun to the streets of Burlington Saturday afternoon.Church Street was packed with people and their pets for Burlington's annual Howl'ween costume contest. There were several categories, including silliest costume, most original, best pup and owner, and best in show.Emilia Chittenden and her pug, Frisbee, entered the competition for the second year in a row.”I got this costume a few years ago, and then we saw this and thought, this is perfect! We're here for fun, but if we win, that'd be cool too,” Chittenden said.Three winners were chosen for each category.Attendees say the event was the bark of the town, and they are already looking forward to next year.

Emilia Chittenden and her pug, Frisbee, entered the competition for the second year in a row.

“I got this costume a few years ago, and then we saw this and thought, this is perfect! We're here for fun, but if we win, that'd be cool too,” Chittenden said.

Three winners were chosen for each category.

Attendees say the event was the bark of the town, and they are already looking forward to next year.
