One of our furry family members that we adopted a few years ago 100% fits that category.

Maya, whom we adopted from the Great Falls Animal Shelter, was severely abused at some point in her life, which has left her traumatized by loud noises.

About a year ago, we purchased a ThunderShirt for Maya to see if that might help her with her anxiety.

We got the idea because we occasionally take her rafting with us, and for some strange reason, every time we put on her life vest, she calms down.

So, with that said, we thought, why not try out a thunder shirt?

If you're unfamiliar with a ThunderShirt, it's a compression shirt you put on your dog.

In theory, the compression helps calm them down.

Think of it as a weighted blanket only for a dog.

Lo and behold, the ThunderShirt seems to work!

Don't get me wrong—severe thunderstorms and loud noises still scare her quite badly.

However, the ThunderShirt does help take the edge off.

There is a noticeable difference when she is wearing the shirt versus when she is not.
