A DOG expert has shared the exact breed he says you should choose if you have children, and it’s not what you’d expect.
Canine behaviourist Will Atherton claims the Boxer dog is an ideal pet for parents with little ones, as long as you train it well.

In a new clip, the pooch whizz reveals why he thinks you should get the goofy breed.
“Boxers are great with children,” he says. “They can be super exuberant but as long as you know how to train and manage that, they build beautiful relationships with kids.
“Boxers are sheer comedy gold so if you want a dog that’s going to make your day better and make you laugh more, I promise you, this is the dog for you.”
Will claims that although Boxers aren’t the easiest dog breed to train, and their IQ isn’t necessarily the highest, they are really fun to train and they really enjoy it too.
“There will be challenges along the way but you will be smiling throughout them all,” he says.
Will has spent years training all sorts of different dog breeds from tiny Chihuahuas to enormous Great Danes and even hunting dogs like the Turkish Kangal.
The pro has racked up more than two million likes on TikTok and boasts almost 885,000 followers who need help and advice about different dogs.
Will recently revealed his go-to breeds if you want a really gentle and calm companion.
But if you’re getting a Boxer, expect excitement, fun and days full of laughs, he says.
Writing alongside his video, Will said: “It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Boxers, but it’s really important that you understand them deeply before deciding if they’re the right breed for you.
“When trained well their unique characteristics make them a joy to live with and they’re downright hilarious.
“However, those same things when not managed and controlled through good training can become a nightmare, which is why I see a lot of them coming through for behaviour problems.
“So I always go back to make sure you know what you’re getting into, and then put the work in to get it right first time.
“I have free training available to help with just that thing.”
Commenting on the clip, one user agreed: “My two boxers are the best. They’re the most amazing breed.”
A second shared: “We inherited an ex-show boxer from a family friend. We wouldn’t have bought one before but since owning one they’ve become my favourite breed.”
