Yes, a similar thing happened when an Indian woman called off her wedding after her mother-in-law denied her wish to bring her dog with her after marriage.

Recently, an internet user named Priyanka took to her X account and shared her ordeal. She revealed that her 7-year-old relationship ended due to her boyfriend's mother. Her first note can be read as:
“So my 7 years old relationship came to an end not because of me not because of him but because of his mother..why mothers have to come in between..why? ???” 7 years is no joke..”
Further sharing the details of her ending the relationship, the user revealed that they were preparing for their wedding. She revealed that the boy's love started vanishing slowly, and he didn't fight for his relationship with his parents. She revealed that initially, their parents were okay with the marriage.
However, things took an ugly turn when she put up a condition to bring her dog along with her after marriage. It was her boyfriend's mother who was against it. She added that her mother is not well, and she is the one who is managing all the duties of the furbaby herself. The girl revealed that her mother instantly denied the idea, as they already have a dog and don't want to raise two dogs. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
“Our parents were okay with the marriage but I had put up a condition that my dog would also shift after some days of our marraige as my mother is not well and can’t take care of my dog all by herself (currently most of the things i am managing) and I can’t live my dog like this..he is my child but my bfs family has also a dog so his mother refused saying that they can’t adjust with two dogs.”

Well, some might call the girl's demand unusual. Still, it is a sensitive topic, and only pet parents (remember, pet parents, not owners) will understand that they become our family, and, like our first child, especially if you are a girl, it becomes hard to leave them. Reacting to the girl's unusual demand of bringing her pet, one user wrote, “So it seems like: His priority: you. Your priority: dog (Relationship needs adjustment, sacrifices, if you can't do even this Little thing ..aur kya hi bole). Also please don't downgrade people.. comparing them with your ex..you only called him coward.”
Another one commented, “She’s literally already moving to his place – leaving her mom and life behind. The guy gets to stay at his place with his parents and his dog, and the girl can’t? Also people can have two priorities at the same time and both can still mean the world to them.”
However, there were many who called her act childish. One of the users wrote, “Now this is a very childish tweet I think. First I had sympathy with u but reading this one I cannot sympathise more.”
