Are you ready for a new pet in your life? All of these animals are available for adoption at Iredell County Animal Services, 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville.

Meet Blondie (A292407). This sweet and energetic girl came to us as a stray.
She is estimated at 2 years of age and is likely a German Shepherd mix.
This 44-pound cutie is also thought to be housebroken, given her neat kennel.
Blondie is a sweet girl who walks great on a leash and she loves to spend downtime in all the offices here that she can.
For more information on Blondie, please come and meet her in person.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
Her fee is waived and her adopter will receive two free training sessions with Highland Canine Training.

All of this week’s pets have been spayed or neutered and are looking for their forever homes.
Come and meet them.

All adoptions include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines and microchip.
Business hours are from noon to 5 p.m.
Monday through Friday and 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
Saturday.
Access from 10 a.m.
to noon Monday through Friday is by appointment.

Jesse (A291720) is still such a puppy at 10 months old and he is such a sweet one at that! He has now been here for 77 days, so the stress of being contained at the shelter is getting to him! Imagine having all that puppy energy and puppy love and being stuck here at the shelter.
He is working on leash training and is improving daily! One of his favorite things to do while here is participating in playgroups with his peers and we love to see him cut loose and be himself! This sweet, happy and affectionate boy weighs 53 pounds and he is a real love bug! We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
For more information on Jesse, please visit the shelter in person.
His fee is waived and his adopter will receive two free training sessions with Highland Canine Training.

For current adoption specials, visit the shelter in person as these change frequently.

Houdini (A293227) was found at a nearby business and brought to us as a stray.
He is a friendly boy, just unsure of what this place is.
He is estimated at 9 months of age and we don't have to tell you, he is a cutie! He doesn't seem to like restraint very much and for this reason, a home with small children is not recommended.
This sweet boy is just a little overwhelmed with everything here, as between the loudness and the smells and the strange dogs/people, we admit, it can be a lot.
This just means we know his family will find him sooner, rather than later and we are putting that out into the universe for him! He weighs 43.40 pounds and we recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children, reminding that older children may be best in his forever home.
Please come and meet him in person for more information.

The normal fee schedule is as follows: Dogs/puppies, $80; cats/kittens, $65; PetSmart only, cats/kittens, $20.

All adoptions take place during business hours.

Sweet Taz (A292487) is still here and this 1-year, 8-month-old is so ready for a family to call his own.
He has now been at the shelter for 62 days.
This super-sweet dog has been described as a "big sweet baby." He loves to play with other dogs and he LOVES humans! He is a lover of all things squeaky, enjoys lots of treats and is just a good, good boy! This 61-pound cutie is fee waived and his adopter will receive two free training sessions with Highland Canine Training.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
Please come and meet Taz in person for more information and to pretty much fall in love!

Want to help, but you aren’t ready to adopt? How about volunteering? We are looking for long-term volunteers willing and able to give of their time, ideally weekly, for let’s say … forever? If you are only looking for short-term hours or a certain amount of hours for school service, community service project, special interest or others, please come see us, too.
For those only needing short-term or limited hours, our volunteer program may not be for you, but we have other options available.
We can tell you this for certain … ICAS volunteers are THE best and we can’t do what we do without them.

This sweet and friendly girl came to us as a stray when she appeared on her finder’s property and our ACO got her safely here to the shelter.
Sweet Willa (A294211) is a gentle and sweet soul who is ready for her forever family.
She did great when meeting a neutered male of similar size here, never seeming to be bothered by his rowdiness at all.
This precious face is a pretty good descriptor of just her overall sweet demeanor.
Please come and meet this 51-pound, 2-year-old sweetie, named Willa.
You may fall in love, so be prepared for that! We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.

The Books & Buddies reading program is now running.
No appointment is necessary.
Reading times are from noon to 5 p.m.
weekdays and 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
Saturdays.
Bring a book or borrow one from the shelter and grab a stool.

The Books & Buddies guidelines are:

Children of all ages and adults are welcome to read.

Meet Slinky (A294323) and he is perfect for the family looking for a small dog! He comes to us as an owner surrender due to a major life change in his family.
He is adorable, super friendly and did we mention adorable?? He is 2 years old and weighs 15.20 pounds.
He is ready for his forever family to find him! We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.

Children 15 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Do not put fingers in the kennels.

Do not run or make loud noises around the animals.

Sit sideways to the dog kennels when reading.

Yet another small dog for those looking and this sweet girl is Abbi (A294320)! This 2-year-old comes to us as an owner surrender due to a major life change in her family and she is now ready to start anew! She weighs 15.30 pounds and although she is nervous being here, she is a sweetheart.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.

One person can be reading in the cat room at a time.

Readers must track their own service hours.
Any staffer can sign off on service hours.

Like many other stray dogs before him, Banjo (A294060) was found running down a very busy highway and was brought here to safety by his finders.
Since no family came to claim this little cutie, he is now available for adoption! Banjo is estimated at 2 years of age and is thought to be a Border Collie mix.
He is one handsome fella and seems to get along better (at least while here) with submissive female dogs.
He weighs 56.70 pounds and he is ready to meet his forever family! Please visit the shelter in person to meet him and learn more about him.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.

To become a volunteer, a foster owner or both, visit co.iredell.nc.us/149/animal-services-control, call the volunteer coordinator at 704-878-5424, ext.
3507, or stop by the shelter for an application from 8:30 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
weekdays.

Fostering is a great way to get the animals out of the shelter for a reprieve and a great opportunity to get them in front of potential adopters they wouldn’t see while being in the shelter.

Fosters are true lifesavers in providing the tender loving care that the cats and kittens so desperately need for the animals’ best possible outcome.

Dale (A293889) came to us as a stray and is estimated at 1 year, 5 months old.
This 56.50-pound cutie is no "Intimidator" like Senior/3 (had to get in NASCAR GOAT legend reference somewhere with THIS name!), however he IS winning hearts, not checkered flags here at the shelter.
Surgery Assistant Rosemary is just one of several whose heart he has stolen! He tested with a smaller female dog while here and it was a great interaction, with tail wags and play-bows all around.
This sweet boy is ready for his family to find him so he can end his random "heart stealing" days, and focus on stealing those hearts he can always call on in both the winning seasons and in the caution laps of life.
Please come and meet sweet Dale in person for more information.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.

The shelter doesn’t want the fosters to have to provide for the basic care items needed to care for the animals.
To donate, the shelter’s address is 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville.

As for size of dry kitten food, 3.15- or 6.3-pound bags are easiest for fosters to handle.

Sweet Caiden (A291903) is our current shelter longtimer, having been here at the shelter for 79 days and he is so ready for his forever home! This 1-year, 8-month-old still has some of the puppy energy that we all love and with consistent training and patience, he is going to be the best good boy! This 54.70-pound playful pupper is food motivated and easy to train! He loves hanging out in offices for quiet time and he is thought to be housebroken.
Being at the shelter for this amount of time can be stressful and Caiden is hoping to find his forever home soon.
He gets along great with other dogs and LOVES spending time with them in playgroups! Please come and meet him in person to learn more about him.
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
His fee is waived and his adopter will receive two free training sessions with Highland Canine Training.

Animal Services also holds drive-thru rabies clinics from 6-7 p.m.
the second Tuesday of each month.
The fee is $5, cash only.

For information, call the shelter at 704-878-5424.
