Isle of Wight dog awards open for public nominations

The inaugural Woof Awards Isle of Wight will take place at Shanklin Conservative Club on Saturday March 8, 2025.

The event will recognise the achievements of dog walkers, groomers, pet related businesses, dog boarders, or anyone that loves our canine friends.

Nomination close next week, and can be made via the Woof Awards' online form.

The shortlist will be announced on Wednesday October 16.

Founder Mary Jacobs was born on the Isle of Wight, and runs the UK's largest animal recognition awards.

She said: “Since 2016 I’ve had Isle of Wight business owners from Dog Groomers and dog boarders enter the Animal Star Awards.

“Many have come over to Portsmouth to attend the award ceremony and I wanted to bring an awards to the Isle of Wight to give recognition to those who dedicate themselves to the lives of dogs.”

The Isle of Wight Dog festival was recently postponed to May 2025.

Organisers were unable to secure key content for the festival, deciding to push back the event to May 24 and 25, 2025, at the Isle of Wight County Showground.

A spokesperson said: “Rather than host an event that falls short of our visitors’ expectations, we feel it’s in everyone’s best interest to delay, until we can provide the full experience you deserve.

“The good news is we’ve secured the same venue for May 2025. This extra time will allow us to deliver a pawsitively unrivalled dog festival for all dog owners and lovers, across the Isle of Wight.”
