MUSCATINE, Iowa — An eastern Iowa animal rescue needs your help raising money to keep things afloat.
The Fall Pet Festival is a fundraising event that is being held Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17. The event was organized by It Takes a Village, a 501C3 animal welfare organization that specializes in providing shelter to homeless animals while finding them a new home. You can read more about their programming here.
President & Founder of It Takes a Village, Meagen Koehler, said they are strapped for resources and they absolutely need all of the support they can get going forward.
“Throughout the year, we’ll hold different short fundraisers for a medical case for a dog or this particular need or that,” Koehler said. “Where the flashy stuff gets the dollars thrown to it. But, things like shelter staff and the lese for the building, those are things that you just don’t really get the donations throughout the year. So, that’s why this one is so crucial for us.”
If you and your fur baby would like to attend, the festival will run until that Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Park in downtown Muscatine.
The Friday night kick off party will start at 5:30 p.m. to help ring in the weekend of festivities, including:
- A beer tent
- Food trucks
- Live music
- Pet-friendly crafts
- Village pet olympics
