LA GRANGE, Ky. (WDRB) — A La Grange woman witnessed two dogs attack her neighbor and another dog.
It happened in Falcon Ridge, a quiet community. However, Saturday afternoon it was quite the opposite. The attack happened in near a cul-de-sac at the end of a driveway.
Tami Stevenson was home enjoying her afternoon when she heard screaming outside.
“It was, it was to me gruesome,” Stevenson said.
She ran to go get help.
“It was very bad. I mostly felt completely helpless. Like I couldn't help them,” Stevenson said.
As she made it to her front yard, she saw two dogs. Stevenson thought one was a pit bull and the other a boxer. They were attacking her neighbor, Steve Mueller, and another dog — named Zolla.
“I heard him literally screaming ‘No stop, oh my God' kind of thing and then you can hear, the dogs fighting. He's laying on the ground with the dog. The dogs getting pulled from both ends, just pulled, yanked, you name it,” Stevenson said. “He was just bleeding everywhere. Everybody's trying to hold it up mostly probably protect the dog's head.”
The quick, but painful attack sent Mueller to the hospital for stitches on his hands and chin and the certified therapy dog to the emergency vet.
The dogs broke Zola's back leg. They're worried she's not going to make it.
“A lot of damage happened in a matter of three minutes,” Stevenson said.
Stevenson said the Mueller's were pet sitting Zolla for the weekend and had just started to go on a walk when it happened.
“All of us are a little bit on edge now,” Stevenson said.
People in the area said this isn't the first time they've seen the two attack dogs running around their neighborhood. WDRB News reached out to the owner of the two dogs and they declined to comment.
“There's something that needs to be done,” Stevenson said.
WDRB News also reached out to the Oldham County Animal Control. They said they could not comment because this is an ongoing investigation.
