It’d Been So Long, The Microchip Company Marked The Dog As ‘Deceased’

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department recently received a call about a stray dog that appeared “old and unwell” on a rural property. Responding to the call, an officer arrived at the scene and scanned the dog for a microchip, revealing her name was Zoey. To everyone’s surprise, Zoey had been missing from her home in Lafayette, California, for 12 years. It had been so long that the microchip company had actually listed her as deceased.

The discovery raised an intriguing question: Can dogs remember their owners after such a long time? The answer seemed to lie in the following emotional reunion. Zoey’s owner, Michelle, was contacted and informed of the incredible find. Filled with disbelief and joy, Michelle returned to the location to reunite with her long-lost companion.

When Michelle arrived, the moment was nothing short of magical. Despite the years that had passed, Zoey seemed to recognize her owner. Their reunion was heartwarming, filled with tears of joy and affectionate embraces. It was hard for Michelle to fathom, but Zoey was here in the flesh after over a decade apart.

With Zoey now safely back in her arms, Michelle took her home, where another surprise awaited—another 13-year-old dog in the household. Zoey was about to meet a new friend and start a new chapter in her life. The story of Zoey’s return is a testament to the enduring bond between pets and their owners. All is well again as Zoey settles into her familiar surroundings, bringing closure and joy to Michelle and her family.
