It’s Not Easy Renting A Home In Wyoming With A Dog

If you’re a renter, it can be tough to find a place that will allow your dogs to live there with you. This is a deal-breaker for many people since dogs are considered to be more like family than pets.

If you can find a landlord who’s okay with having pets, it will probably cost you a lot more. It could be a one-time pet deposit, or your monthly rent may be higher if you have a pet.

According to Tenant Cloud.com, renting to pet owners has pros and cons.

Pros

  • More potential renters
  • Charge higher rent
  • Help protect your property
  • Long term renters

Cons

  • Extra wear and tear on your property
  • Regular inspections to keep an eye on the condition of your property
  • Issues with neighbors
  • Tenants that hide pets don’t take proper steps to have a pet

Show Sight Magazine has released information that shows the best and worst states for finding rental property if you have a dog. Across the country, nearly 1/3 of all rentals will allow tenants to have a dog. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to rent in Wyoming, your chances of doing so will go down significantly.

Wyoming Top 10 for states that will likely NOT allow a renter to have a dog.

Another interesting piece of this study that jumped out at me was that Wyoming was the top state with the most interest in having a dog. 80.8 searches per 1,000 people were from people interested in acquiring a new dog.
