SAN ANTONIO – A suspect has been sentenced after allegedly shooting and killing a man after he and his wife pet his dog.
On Wednesday, Jordan Eaton was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Valentin Gonzales, as well as 10 years in prison, probated for 10 years, for the aggravated assault of Brittney Clark-Gonzales, to run consecutively.
On Dec. 30, 2021, a dog that was not on a leash, belonging to Eaton, approached Clark-Gonzales and Gonzales. The husband and wife began petting the dog, not knowing who the owner was.
This led to Eaton, who was 18 at the time, approaching the couple, and a heated confrontation ensued.

That confrontation escalated to the point where Eaton pulled out a handgun, and shot at the wife.
Her husband went for the gun, striking Eaton. Bud despite his best efforts to disarm Eaton, Valentin Gonzales was fatally shot.
“ “Our office and community have spoken. I hope the message is clear, the District Attorney’s office will not tolerate gun violence,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “Our team is ready to fully prosecute those who commit these senseless acts.”
San Antonio Police were able to recover the cell phone video that captured the shooting.
Eaton will serve his sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
