KC Pet Project sees over 100 dog adoptions in weekend event
Updated: 6:23 PM CDT Sep 2, 2024
NEWS AT FOUR, THE KC PET PROJECT IS MAKING A FINAL PUSH TO CLEAR THE SHELTERS.
THE SPECIAL ENDS TODAY.
KMBC NINE TERISA WHITE SHOWS US THE DIFFERENCE.
YOU CAN MAKE RIGHT NOW.
THE KC PET PROJECT REPORTS THAT OVER 100 DOGS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED THIS PAST WEEKEND, AND MORE ARE EXPECTED TO BE ADOPTED TODAY.
WITH TODAY BEING THE LAST DAY OF THE INITIATIVE, THE SHELTER IS URGING RESIDENTS ACROSS THE METRO AREA TO CONSIDER ADOPTING A PET IN NEED.
WE HAVE MATCHMAKERS THAT CAN HELP YOU FIND THE PET THAT FITS YOUR FAMILY.
AND WE ALSO HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO FOSTER IF YOU KIND OF WANT TO SEE WHAT THAT’S LIKE.
WE HAVE A FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM.
IF YOU KIND OF WANT TO TRY IT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS.
ADOPTION FEES FOR ALL ADULT DOGS HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO JUST $25. HOWEVER, IF A DOG HAS BEEN IN THE SHELTER FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD, THAT FEE MAY BE WAIVED ENTIRELY.
IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE WE’RE AN OPEN ADMISSION SHELTER, WHICH MEANS THAT WE CANNOT CONTROL THE NUMBER OF DOGS AND CATS THAT COME IN EVERY DAY.
AND SO WE’RE SEEING 40 TO 60 NEW ANIMALS COMING IN EVERY SINGLE DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.
AND SO IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER THAT WE CAN FIND HOMES.
THIS PIECE GOES OVER THE NOSE.
THIS FAMILY HEARD ABOUT THE ADOPTION PUSH AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT TIME TO ADOPT.
MY DAUGHTER LOVES HUSKIES AND SHE SAW ONE AND SHE’S LIKE, LET’S GO LOOK AT THEM.
THEY SAID THEY FOUND THE PERFECT HUSKY MIX NAMED ROBIN HOOD.
SO IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO GIVE AN ANIMAL A, YOU KNOW, A BETTER LOOK ON LIFE THAN JUST GO TO YOU KNOW, A PET STORE WHERE THEY’RE CONSTANTLY TAKING CARE OF AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
NOW, ALTHOUGH THE $25 ADOPTION FEE WAS FOR TODAY ONLY, THEY’RE STILL WAIVING FEES FOR ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN AT THE SHELTER FOR A WHILE.
REPORTING IN KANSAS CITY, TERISA WYATT KMBC NINE NEWS.
FOSTERING IS ALSO A GREAT OPTION.
