CATCH THEM, BUT THEY GOT AWAY ON FRIDAY EVENING. I WAS SITTING ON MY COUCH, LOOKED DOWN, AND I SAW THREE LARGE WOLF LIKE LOOKING DOGS, AND I WAS LIKE, OH MY GOD, THAT’S CRAZY. IN THIS VIDEO, CAMILA CAPTURED THREE LARGE DOGS ROAMING HER SOUTH. NATOMAS NEIGHBORHOOD. IT WAS JUST SCARY TO KIND OF SEE LIKE, BIG DOGS LIKE THAT, BECAUSE YOU JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE GOING TO DO. THE FRONT STREET ANIMAL SHELTER WARNING NEIGHBORS TO BE ON ALERT. THESE THREE LARGE DOGS WERE LAST SEEN NEAR THE NATOMAS HIGH SCHOOL AREA. THE MESSAGE FROM SHELTER OFFICIALS IS IF YOU SEE THEM, DON’T APPROACH THEM. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DID KILL A CAT AND THEY ALSO BIT A DOG WHILE IT WAS BEING WALKED BY ITS OWNER. BUT IT’S NOT THE FIRST TIME, BUT THEY CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND THEY JUST STARTED ATTACKING CHLOE. SHE TRIED TO LIKE, YOU KNOW, GET HER AWAY, BUT IT WAS THEY WERE BIG AND THREE OF THEM, SO IT WAS KIND OF TOUGH. EARLIER THIS YEAR. KCRA THREE SPOKE TO GORDON DEANDA, WHOSE DOG WAS KILLED BY WOLF DOGS. WE BELIEVE IT’S THE SAME OWNER, OR AT LEAST THE PERSON CARETAKING FOR THE DOGS IS THE SAME PERSON. RYAN HINDERMANN SAYS. THESE ARE NOT WOLF DOGS, BUT A HUSKY MALAMUTE MIX. THE BIG THING FOR US IS, IS GOING TO BE DETERMINING LIKE, HEY, IS THIS IS THIS OWNER GOING TO BE, YOU KNOW, CONTINUING TO HAVE THESE DOGS? AND IF SO, WHAT SOLUTIONS NEED TO BE PUT IN PLACE TO PREVENT THESE DOGS FROM ESCAPING AGAIN? ALTHOUGH HE ASSURES THEY’RE NOT AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS PEOPLE, STILL NATOMAS RESIDENTS ARE ON EDGE. PEOPLE’S FAMILY ANIMALS ARE GETTING KILLED. THAT’S NOT OKAY. GOD FORBID THEY HAPPEN TO ATTACK A CHILD. AND THEY SAY THE BEST WAY TO REPORT A SIGHTING IS CALLING THE CITY’S 311 LINE LIVE IN SACRAMENTO. CATALINA ESTRADA, KCRA THREE NEWS. SO, CATALINA, DO WE KNOW IF THE OWNER OF THOSE DOGS IS ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR THEM? YES. SO WHILE WE WERE OUT TALKING TO THAT NEIGHBOR THAT SPOTTED THOSE DOGS LAST WEEK, AN ANIMAL TRAPPER CAME UP TO US. SHE TOLD US THAT SHE’S ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR THESE DOGS, AND SHE’S WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE OWNER. AND THE SHELTER ALSO TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE STAYED IN CONTACT WITH THE OWNER WHILE THEY’RE STILL LOOKING FOR THESE LARGE DOGS. BACK TO YOU, ANDREA

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Residents in South Natomas are on edge after three large dogs, identified as a husky-malamute mix, were seen roaming the neighborhood, prompting warnings from the Front Street Animal Shelter.

Kamilah Brunache, a local resident, captured video footage of the dogs in her neighborhood Saturday morning.

“I saw three large wolf-like looking dogs and I was like, oh my God, that's crazy,” said Brunache.

Ryan Hinderman, with the shelter, said the dogs were last seen near Natomas High School.

“Unfortunately, they did kill a cat, and they also bit a dog while it was being walked by its owner,” said Hinderman.

Earlier this year, KCRA 3 spoke to Goretti De Anda, whose dog was attacked and killed by wolf dogs.

Although these are not wolf dogs but a husky-malamute mix, Hinderman said they believe they have the same owner, and the shelter needs to determine the owner's future plans for the dogs.

“Is this owner going to be, you know, continuing to have these dogs?” said Hinderman. “What solutions need to be put in place to prevent these dogs from escaping again?”

The shelter hasn’t received any reports of dogs being aggressive towards people, and they have animal control officers ready to respond to any sightings.

“It was just scary to kind of see like loose big dogs,” said Brunache. “You just don't know what they're going to do.”

Despite assurances, residents remain uneasy.

“God forbid, they happen to attack a child,” said Natomas resident Nubia Tapia.

Residents are encouraged to report sightings by calling the city's 311 line.
