Lewiston Police Officer Shoots Aggressive Dog | Idaho

LEWISTON – An officer with the Lewiston Police Department shot an aggressive dog on Saturday.

At about 5:00 p.m on Saturday, Lewiston Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Park Street for a domestic situation. Arriving officers were flagged down by a juvenile male regarding a vicious dog that was foaming at the mouth and barking at the juvenile.

According to the Lewiston Police Department, officers tried to assist the juvenile and the aggressive dog then came at the juvenile. An officer acted quickly and pulled his weapon and shot the dog as it was running past him to go for the juvenile.

The officer fired one round striking the dog. The Lewiston Police Department assisted the owners in locating a veterinarian for treatment.

In a Saturday press release, the Lewiston Police Department issued a reminder to pet owners to make sure pets are on a leash when not in a contained area. The incident is still under investigation.
