FARGO — She’s a Halloween treat sweeter than anything you’ll pick up trick-or-treating, and that’s because at 10 years old, Karlach is ready to make the most of her time as a senior pooch.
The labrador/springer spaniel cross came in to the 4 Luv of Dog rescue after being discovered in a hoarding situation.
She had a lot of fairly significant hair loss from a thyroid condition and was also overweight.
Since then, the 4 Luv volunteers have gotten her on an appropriate and quite affordable medication, so her hair is starting to regrow, and she has some nice winter clothes to keep her warm.
They’ve also gotten her weight down, which is easier on dogs’ joints and ability to be athletic and mobile, especially as they get older.
Karlach — who also answers to the name Kallie — loves to play and really likes balls.
She gets along extremely well with cats and loves little children.
She is selective about the dogs she likes, so it’s best to give her a slow introduction so she can make up her own mind about them.
Her foster, 4 Luv volunteer Savanna Leach, says she gets along well with her “feral chihuahuas,” so Karlach has a lot of possibilities to be a great fit for a variety of families.

And, to help provide the care for Karlach and all the other wonderful dogs at 4 Luv, the rescue is holding its sixteenth annual silent auction and fundraiser.
Bidding is live online now through Saturday the 2nd, and you can also come out to the in-person social Saturday at the Fargo Holiday Inn.
Admission is free, with a cash bar, dress is casual, and you can view the hundreds of items up for bid.
Everything you donate goes directly to the care of the dogs.
