MONONA, Wis. — 31 animals are available to find new homes after a pet surrender event by J &R Aquatic Animal Rescue occurred Saturday in Monona.
A variety of animals that were surrendered included fish, chinchilla, turtles, tortoise, and a bearded dragon.
The most commonly cited reason for surrender was housing changes.
“In many areas rehoming options for exotic pets are limited, leading some owners to make difficult choices,” said Macy Yohr of J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue. “Events like these offer a compassionate alternative, ensuring these animals receive proper care and a second chance at finding a suitable home.”
All surrendered animals will undergo a brief quarantine before becoming available for adoption. Individuals interested in providing a home for one of these animals are encouraged to follow J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue for updates.
