PARKERSBURG, W.Va.
(WTAP) - A local man, Jon Six, Boxers Bed & Biscuits and Latrobe Street Mission have partnered together to bring help to the homeless and their pets.

They have started a program that will allow the homeless to board their pets at Boxers Bed & Biscuits for up to four weeks.

This program came to existence because Jon Six volunteering at Latrobe Street Mission has to see many people turned away because of their strict no pet policy.
That then results in the owner and their pet being stuck in a car or even outside.

“We have people out there homeless because they have a pet and that’s really a problem,” said Jon Six.

For Jon helping homeless is something he strives to do every week with his Jon Six Food Ministry and now he can do that while also adding a new element.

“What I’ve done is reached out to Boxers and ask them if they could take this pet up to four weeks so we can give the owner housing at LSM a roof over their head, three meals a day, help them get a job, help them find housing while the pet is being boarded,” said Six.

The other element is where the team at Boxers Bed & Biscuits come in.

“So our plan is to get the animals in and get them fully vetted where they’re protected and then we’re going to transition them to our pack facility.
At that point we can take a look at any type of individual need the dog might have,” said Owner, Angie Beck.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help that this program can provide you can contact Jon Six for more details by clicking here.
