Hay, that sounds good!
The Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center is giving hay to pet owners who need help keeping their pets warm this winter.
Temperatures in East Texas are expected to drop and remain below freezing beginning Sunday as an Arctic air mass moves into the region.
“Don’t get caught off guard and not have a plan or materials needed for your pets,” the shelter posted on Facebook. “While we stress the importance of bringing them inside during this season, we understand that’s not always possible. … So, we’re offering resources … like hay.”
Hay can be placed in dog houses, barns and other structures to help insulate pets from cold temperatures and wind. Residents who need hay can drop by the shelter, 303 H.G. Mosley Pkwy., during business hours or call animal control at (903) 297-1290.
The shelter is open noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
