Lost Puppy Scratches On Door To Get Out Of The Rain, Boy Sneaks Her Inside

On a rainy day in Selma, California, a young teenager named Ubaldo heard a scratching sound at his front door. Curious, he went to see what it was and discovered a small puppy seeking refuge from the rain on his porch. Wanting to help the lost pup, he tried to bring her inside, but his parents wouldn’t allow it. However, Ubaldo’s compassion drove him to care for the shivering puppy. He quickly fetched some of his own dog’s food to feed her. “At first, she backed away a little bit, but I kept getting closer to her, and once I pet her, she basically trusted me,” Ubaldo told The Dodo in the video below.

He didn’t know where the puppy had come from, but as a dog lover, he was determined to help her. The puppy still wore a pink collar, leading Ubaldo to believe that she was lost and that her owners might be searching for her. He joined local community groups on Facebook and posted about the lost dog, hoping to reach her owner.

While waiting for a response, Ubaldo made sure the puppy was well-fed and clean. He asked his parents if the pup could stay with them, but they said no, as they already had a dog named Rocky, and their landlord only allowed one pet.

“My sister and I hung out with her out on the porch in the afternoon, and then we played with her […] I was worried about her being outside in the cold at night, so I made a little house for her out of an old cardboard box. But I couldn’t stop thinking about her at night, so I just snuck her in while my parents were asleep,” Ubaldo shared.

He quietly took her to the bathroom, where he played with her and tried to keep her calm. He even made a makeshift sweater for her from an old sock. “I was getting attached to her. I wish I could have kept her, but I knew the right thing to do was to take her back to her owners,” Ubaldo said.

Eventually, his parents found out, but it didn’t matter because the next day, Ubaldo received a message from someone who might be the owner. “I got a potential owner request and after light social media stalking and passing by her house, her story checked out,” Ubaldo explained.

The owner lived nearby in Selma, CA, not far from Ubaldo’s home. They arranged to meet that same day so he could return the dog. “Right before I returned her, I played with her one last time in the yard with the tennis ball she liked to play with, and I enjoyed the time with her. She was very fun to hang out with. She was very spunky and adorable,” Ubaldo recalled.

Finally, it was time to return the dog to her home. The owner’s daughter came out and told him that the dog’s name was Bubba. After Ubaldo’s efforts, Bubba was back where she belonged. Fortunately, Bubba lives close by, and Ubaldo can visit his new friend whenever he wants! Click on the video below to see Bubba’s heartwarming rescue!
