Travelling families can now bring pets into main foyer and seating
Families travelling with furry companions can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Cullompton Services has officially opened its doors to dogs – just in time for the summer getaway.
Dogs are now permitted inside the main foyer at the M5 service station, allowing them to join their owners in communal areas and food-hall seating. The move forms part of a wider rollout across all Extra MSA-operated sites nationwide, including Beaconsfield, Peterborough and Cobham.
In addition to indoor access, the sites have been equipped with dog-friendly drinking stations and ample outdoor space for walks, providing a welcome break for four-legged travellers and their humans alike.
However, the new pet policy comes with conditions. Dogs must remain on leads at all times and are restricted to designated areas, with food outlets and shops remaining off limits.
Tom Dobson, chief executive of Extra MSA, said: “We strive to cater to all the unique needs of families at our sites. Dogs are a core member of that unit, and we want to take any step we can to ensure their comfort, particularly on longer journeys.
“The wellbeing of road users is at the heart of every decision we make here at Extra; travelling with pets isn’t always easy and we want to change that with these latest changes. We’re excited to go the ‘Extra mile’ for our fellow dog owners and make their longer journeys smoother and more enjoyable.”
Extra MSA, which currently operates eight motorway service areas across England, has consistently been rated the top motorway service operator for customer satisfaction, according to the 2023 Transport Focus Motorway Services User Survey.
