Man, pet escape burning Morton Grove house during fire

Morton Grove firefighters responded Wednesday, Nov.
15 to a house fire at in the 6300 block of Normandy Avenue in Morton Grove at about 9:30 a.m., they said in a news release.

An male occupant and a pet dog were able to exit the house on their own, and firefighters took the man to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for evaluation.

The house was significantly damaged and remains uninhabitable, the department said.

The fire department contacted the Red Cross to provide assistance to the family.

Fire personnel from Niles, Des Plaines, North Maine, Skokie, Glenview, Northbrook, Wilmette, Evanston and Park Ridge Fire Departments provided assistance.
The Morton Grove Police Department assisted with traffic control.

The Morton Grove Fire Department is investigating the cause and origin with assistance from the MABAS Division 3 Fire Investigation Team and the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

At this time, the department said the fire is believed to be accidental in nature.
