Byndoor, May 26: In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, a man in Byndoor tied his pet dog to the back of his motorcycle with a chain and dragged it for nearly 2 km along National Highway 66. The inhumane act, which occurred on Saturday evening, has drawn widespread condemnation from the public.
The man, reportedly a resident of Paduvari village in Byndoor, was seen cruelly dragging the dog from Byndoor town along the highway. When concerned citizens stopped him and questioned his actions, he arrogantly responded, “It is my dog, who are you to ask?” However, as more people gathered at the scene, his true nature was exposed.
Due to the brutal dragging, the dog sustained serious injuries to its legs, causing profuse bleeding. Witnesses were horrified to see the trail of blood left on the road. The incident sparked outrage online, with many social media users criticizing the man's barbaric behaviour and demanding strict legal action against him.
Residents of Udupi district expressed deep shame that such a cruel act occurred in a region known for its awareness and sensitivity. The public has called for stringent punishment for the offender and urged authorities to take appropriate preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not recur in the future.
A suo moto complaint has been filed at Byndoor police station.
