Barry Manilow broke our hearts in 1974 (50 years ago!) with his ballad, “Mandy.” Now, Mandy the labrador/pitbull mix is here to break your heart. She’s young, she’s special needs, but volunteers from Broken Tail Rescue report: “her superpower is her sweetness.”
She is deaf, and has limited vision in one eye. She can see shadows and movements, but even with these challenges, she’s a “super fast learner.”
Currently being fostered in Worcester, Mandy learned the layout of the yard, and goes straight to the same area to do her business every day. She can climb stairs very well and loves interacting with other dogs. Her foster parents can trust her to be outside in their yard with other foster dogs and get along beautifully.
She is also very sweet with people, and kids with adults in their lives who explain Mandy’s limitations to them. Mandy would happily snuggle on your bed or a couch if that is your preference. She’s learning to walk on a leash – but occasionally will cross in front. However, her trust in people and other dogs means she can be leash-trained. She enjoys her crate, but may do a little barking before settling down – which is normal. Can you help Mandy?
