Losing a pet is one of the hardest things a person can endure. Some days, the struggle is so real and raw that it’s difficult to imagine the heart will eventually heal. And while there will always be that missing piece, it does get better with time. One family who had to say goodbye to their beloved pup felt these emotions to the core. The patriarch of the family found ‘moving on’ especially challenging. Unable to see their dad struggle any longer, his family took matters into their own hands.
On his first Father’s Day without his best friend, one man did his best to set aside his fractured heart for the good of the family. They celebrated with a delicious lunch on their deck. When it was time to hand Dad his present, the family got quite excited. They handed him a blue gift bag, and he peeked inside. The bag was empty. The man was confused.
Then, he glanced over to the sliding doors. His immediate reaction: “Oh, no way!” His wife carried out a big puppy and handed him over. It was as if his dog that crossed over sent the puppy himself! The puppy instantly knew that this man was his human soulmate and snuggled deeply into his body. The puppy didn’t let go, not for a second!
Dad began to cry, both tears of happiness and tears of relief. He held the puppy tight, knowing this was the start of something special. While his other dog could never be replaced, he felt this new puppy would help him through the darkest time in his life.
