Mardi Growl pet parade and party returning to World’s Fair Park on March 2

The 17th annual Mardi Growl will include the annual pet parade, around 100 vendors, food trucks, games and fun for humans and dogs alike!

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Every year around March, downtown Knoxville goes to the dogs in the best way possible.

The 17th annual Mardi Growl will return to Knoxville on March 2. Every year, it brings out a wave of costumed pets. This year, they will march in a parade starting in Old City and traveling to World's Fair Park. This year, the pet parade will kick off at 11 a.m. and anyone who wants to participate in it should register their pets beforehand for $15.

The Young Williams Animal Center said people could also register for the parade on March 2 for $20. They will have a chance to march for thousands of spectators across downtown Knoxville, all eager to see adorable pets dressed up for a party.

Mardi Growl helps raise money for the animal center, helping make sure it's able to care for thousands of animals every year.

People and pets will be able to compete in costume contests, rewarding people for their creativity and ingenuity. The parade ends at the festival grounds, in World's Fair Park. There, people will be able to find around 100 vendors along with live music, games and all kinds of fun for people and pets alike.

Young Williams Animal Center also said its spay shuttle will be at the festival, giving pet owners a chance to get microchips and rabies vaccines for their dogs for $10. People can book an appointment at the shuttle online.

Pets need to be on a leash during Mardi Growl, Young Williams said on social media.
