ZANESVILLE, OH – This week the Animal Shelter Society is excited to introduce an active and rambunctious kitten named Booker.
Booker is a five-month-old domestic shorthair cat who is up to date on his vaccines and ready to find his forever home.
Rebbecca Hunt, the Animal Care manager at the Shelter, says Booker came to them with a sibling and while his sibling found their forever family, Booker was still on the lookout.
“Booker is super sweet, he was a little nervous when we brought him out. But obviously, sudden noises I do think scare him, like any cat.” Hunt said. “I think he would be fine with kids, an active household would probably be good for him because he does love to play, he loves to stay active.”
Hunt also says with the weather beginning to get cooler, it’s the perfect time to treat your furry friends for fleas and ticks.
She says even though it may be cold enough to kill other bugs, ticks can stay dormant for months, which can cause headaches for you and your pets.
“We’ve had animals come through our intake department and have been covered in fleas and had ticks on them.” Hunt said. “We do offer that preventative clinic once a month that you can call in, we can get your pet seen by the vet, and then we can dispense flea and tick prevention, up to a year. You definitely want to do it, we’ve had a lot of lyme positive dogs in the area, here, and at some other local veterinarians because they haven’t had tick protection. ”
