Meet Selene, a Sweet-Natured Domestic Shorthair

Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Sex: Female
Age: 3.4 years
Weight: 7.94 pounds

Meet Selene!

Beautiful Selene lays quietly on her bed and gazes out her window. She was surrendered to us because she wasn’t the right fit for her family. Selene has a very sweet nature, but she can get nervous in a noisy and busy environment. This golden eyed beauty needs to be the only pet in a quiet home with an experienced cat owner that knows how to read a cat’s body language. Selene has a condition called hyperesthesia. This condition makes the skin on her back and tail area so sensitive that a touch can feel like pain.

Luckily, this condition can be managed, and cats can continue to live a happy, active life. In every other way, Selene is a normal, healthy cat. Sometimes she wants you to give her some affection with head and cheek scratches. Other times, she wants to sniff every nook and cranny of the floor and counters. She turns into a huntress when the mouse teaser toy, shoestring, or laser comes out. Shh…It’s always been our little secret, but Selene has the guilty pleasure of rolling around in some catnip! Selene needs to find her people so she can live her best life. Maybe, she just needs to find you!

Selene is also one of Yana’s “Special” Felines which means her requested adoption donation has been underwritten and she will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on her unique needs.

All of our animals are altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before being made available for adoption.

Please read our adoption guidelines and start your application before coming to meet one of our animals in person. A typical adoption can take up to an hour. Please visit at least one hour before closing if you plan to adopt that day.

Requested Adoption Donations

Young 5 months or younger | $150
Adult older than 5 months | $100
