Meet The Shy But Loving Mr. Smith – Folsom Times

The latest Folsom Times Shelter Pet Spotlight, presented by Symmetry for Health of Folsom, features a gentle and shy German Shepherd named Smith. He’s looking for a loving, patient adopter who can help him build confidence in his forever home. Smith is currently residing at Sacramento County Animal Services’ Bradshaw Shelter.

Smith is a male German Shepherd, estimated to be about 1 year old. Weighing approximately 54.4 pounds, he has been at the shelter since Jan. 19, 2025. He is a young dog still learning to walk on a leash and will thrive with an adopter who can provide gentle guidance and encouragement.

Smith has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy having a compatible canine friend in his new home. He’s currently sharing his shelter suite with friends he met at the shelter, so he might be the perfect buddy for your dog. If you’re considering adopting him, bring your pup to the shelter for a meet-and-greet to see if they’re a match!

If you’d like to meet Smith in person, visit Sacramento County Animal Care Services at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, so be sure to bring a valid ID and plan your visit soon.

By adopting Smith—or one of his shelter friends—you’ll not only gain a devoted companion but also help create space for another pet in need. Smith might just be the perfect addition to your family.

This Shelter Pet Spotlight is made possible by the sponsorship of Symmetry for Health, a Folsom-based corrective exercise program focused on pain relief and performance enhancement. Their physics-based approach realigns the body to promote optimal function. Visit their location at 1845 Iron Point Road, Folsom, or check out their website for more information.

Folsom Times is proud to spotlight shelter pets like Smith to help them find loving homes. Thanks to sponsors like Symmetry for Health, we can highlight local shelters and encourage adoptions. Sponsorship of the weekly spotlight includes advertising, allowing local businesses to support a worthy cause while reaching more than 168,000 readers.
