Milwaukee-area rescue pleads for help placing 4 cats with special needs

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A local animal rescue organization is pleading for the public's help in finding foster homes for four cats with special needs and considerations.

Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) says they've been asking for help for over a month, with no applications for Sweetie Pie, Brady, Minka, or Raya.

They say the four cats are currently living in poor conditions, in foreclosed homes, and are in need of placement and veterinary care as soon as possible.

All applicants must be willing to commit to fostering long-term, and must be located in calm, adult-only homes in Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, or Ozaukee counties.

Sweetie Pie is a blind, 7-year-old domestic longhair cat, in need of an adult-only home with no dogs. She is currently living with Brady and Minka and could be fostered with them, if there are no other cats already living in the foster home. She could also be placed with an easygoing male cat, similar in age or older, who will be gentle with her as she navigates her surroundings.

Brady and Minka are Siamese, domestic shorthair male and female siblings, about 10 years old, also requiring a peaceful, adult-only home, without dogs. MPA says they are currently living in hoarding conditions, along with Sweetie Pie, but come from a separate litter. They say they'd love to keep the pair together, but it is not a requirement.

Raya is a domestic shorthair female tuxedo cat, about three years old, looking for a mellow, adult-only home. MPA says she was being bred for profit and is shy, scared, and possibly under-socialized. She could be placed in a home with a dog that's calm and uninterested in her. MPA says she could benefit from a home with a one or two young or middle-aged male cats who could show her the ropes.

If you think you might be a fit for one or more of these cats, you can submit a foster application at www.milwaukeepetsalive.org/foster.

If you're not in the position to foster, the rescue is also looking for help hanging flyers and spreading the word — email [email protected].

Anyone with additional questions can email [email protected].
