Monty Don, the beloved 68 year old horticulturist and host of BBC show Gardeners' World, has shared a touching tribute to his late dog Nell in his Herefordshire garden, Longmeadow. The tribute, which was warmly received by fans on social media, features plant pots filled with tulips, one of which bears an inscription of Nell's name alongside a dog outline.
Monty shared a photo of the tribute on Instagram last month, captioning it: “The Nell pot (trickier to read, but it's there).” This follows a similar memorial for Monty's late golden retriever Nigel, who died in 2020.
The post has since garnered over 20,000 likes, with fans leaving comments such as “What a sweet tribute. Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl,” and, “How lovely for Nell”.
“Ahhh that's brilliant I didn't know she had one,” remarked an excited follower in response. “Perfect memorial to a memorable Nell.”, another praised.

In October, Monty shared the sad news of his beloved dog Nell's death.
He shared photos of her with the caption: “I was going to tell you about my new book which is published next week but that can wait because my lovely dear Nell died last night.”
Further, he noted: “She was diagnosed with cancer in June and every day this summer has been a gift but it is over now. We buried her in the garden next to Nigel wrapped in one of my jackets with flowers, balls and her favourite biscuits.”
The BBC host ended the heartfelt post stating to his followers: “Her end was peaceful and dignified and ended obvious suffering but it never gets any easier to bear. So life goes on, but for the moment we are very, very sad.”
Both Nell and Nigel had made appearances alongside Monty on Gardeners' World, which he has been presenting since 2011.
Now, it's Monty and his younger dog Ned gracing the show with their presence.
