More than two dozen cats are looking for their “furever” family.
Dakin Humane Society in Springfield has 24 cats listed as available on their adoption page, with some of the cats waiting to find families for months.
One of those cats is Eugene, who is described as being a “total love bug.”
“His favorite hobbies include looking out the window, playing with ping pong balls and feasting on catnip,” the website reads. “Sometimes loud sounds and movements scare him, perhaps reminding him of the stray life, where he never knew if friend or foe lurked around the corner.”
The cat will need to be the only pet in the house, Dakin Humane Society said.
“Eugene has a lot of love to give but will need someone who is willing to let him move at his own pace,” the website states.

He also has FIV, which is a cat-only virus and does not affect people or dogs.
“FIV+ cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats,” the websites reads.
He is available for adoption for $50.
There are also multiple kittens available.

Nora is 1 month old and is very shy. But, the humane society said, she is “very sweet and loving,” adding that she “is ready to take over your heart and make herself a part of your family.”
“Nora loves to end her day sleeping in bed with her human/s and giving everyone a good cuddle,” the website reads.
